Announcing 2011 California Classified Employee of the Year (CSEY) Program (Deadline February 4, 2011)
 

The CSEY Program is designed to pay tribute to the tireless efforts of our outstanding classified school employees. Classified employees are vital staff members who play key roles in creating a school environment that promotes student achievement, safety, and health. District nominees will be considered for county and state wide recognition.

Who is eligible to be nominated?

  1. Nominees must have served a minimum of 5 years in one of the following categories:
    • Child Nutrition
    • Maintenance, Operations and Facilities
    • Office and Technical
    • Para-Educator and Instructional Assistance
    • Support Services and Security
    • Transportation
  2. Nominees must be rank and file employees, not in a management or supervisory position.

How to do I nominate a worthy Classified employee?

  1. Complete the attached one-page Nominee Information Form (Attachment A)
  2. Submit 3 recommendation letters highlighting the employee's contributions (Attachment A)

Nomination packets are due by Friday, February 4, 2011 to the Workforce Management Classified Training Branch of the Personnel Commission, Attn: Marissa Krupat (marissa.krupat@lausd.net)

Please see Memo 5360.1 for details regarding the nomination criteria and guidelines, along with a Word version of the Nomination & Recommendation Forms (Attachment A) which can be completed electronically and Recommendation examples (Attachment B). Obtain your Bachelor's Degree in Public Sector Management by attending classes at night and on the weekends at a District site.

School Office Procedures Certificate Program
 
 

This training can assist you in preparing for the role of the School Administrative Assistant. This is an eight week program where participants attend one three-hour session a week.

New Employee Orientation Program
 

This resource provides essential information necessary for new employees getting acclimated to the District as well as information about the endless benefits offered to employees. In our New Employee Orientation workshop the Workforce Management Team partners with various other departments to offer a comprehensive orientation program for new employees. We suggest all new employees participate in this workshop - click here to sign up for the next available New Employee Orientation or to check out the resources available to you click here!

 

Tuition Reimbursement

 
Our staff handles the processing of Tuition Reimbursement requests for employees in Units B, C, D, and S, and for Confidential and Management Employees. These employees may be eligible for reimbursement of fees paid for employee training or education. You may access the tuition reimbursement request for pre-approval forms by click here.
 
Mentor/Coaching Programs
 
The Workforce Management Team can assist departments in establishing and supporting a program in which identified staff members pair with other department employees (either new or veteran employees) with the goal of coaching and teaching job related skills and knowledge.
 
The Classified Resource Room
 
This library contains a collection of videos, books, journals, and other resources covering a wide range of topics including career development, continuing education, interpersonal/communication skills, budget/finance, customer service, leadership/management, mentoring, and time management. The OE resource library is open from 8 am to 4 pm daily. Please call (213) 353-4300 for an appointment. Staff members are also available to offer one-on-one career counseling services.
 
Internship Programs
 
Our team can assist departments in creating a tailored internship program through which students or other candidates gain practical “hands-on” experience in the field of their interest. This is an excellenct opportunity to identify prospective District employees, partner with local colleges and universities, and connect with the community.
 
Career Enhancement Publications and other Resources
 
Career Planning Guides, New Employee Orientation videos, Telephone Courtesy Guides, and Workplace Violence Prevention pamphlets are available upon request.
